The Sumner Center event space (indoor) and the side an rear yards of the Edwin Smith House (outdoor) are available for wedding related rentals! They are available on a standalone or on a combined basis.
For the Sumner Center, our pricing varies by day of week, month of year, attendance, and additional services. We are happy to provide a custom proposal to couples that come for a visit. We do not provide custom proposals on the basis of email/phone inquiry alone. At this time all pricing for use of the Edwin Smith property is custom quoted.
To provide a general sense of pricing for the Sumner Center alone, a base package for an average Saturday with 120 guests, 5′ round tables, chairs, serving tables, liability insurance and a single security guard would be $2,800. Furniture will be set up according to the floor plan specified by the couple or their wedding planner. This package entails either (a) unlimited use on a single calendar day, or (b) 2 hours the evening of the preceding calendar day before by adult friends/family for decorating/set up (not a rehearsal dinner), 6 hours of use for the Wedding and/or Reception, and (2) hours clean up the morning of the following calendar day. Furniture removal or reset is handled by our staff.
Not included items: linens, plates, or serving pieces, custom pipe and drape, ceiling drape, etc. unless added as an “Additional Service”.
All weddings include the use of:
-advanced heating, cooling and dedicated ventilation for superior indoor quality;
-ice machine;
-refrigeration;
-PA system;
-Guest Mesh WiFi;
-Projection System;
-Built in tunable accent lighting (single setting/scheme).
Although we have a building representative on site for Weddings, that person is there to look after the building and rather than serve as an assistant or concierge. If those services are desired they are available as “Additional Services”
As with all Event Rentals at the Sumner Center, alcohol service needs to be provided by a licensed and insured bar catering firm. The bar catering firm can serve the alcohol it it provides to guests as a cash bar, a hosted bar, or some combination of these two. In instances where a couple is looking to source their own alcohol for the bar caterer to serve, they should expect that service fees, labor, and corking fees will add add up to roughly $1,000 given the example above.
“Additional Services” that are available include:
-Rehearsal Dinner/Goodbye Brunch use of the venue;
-Lighting customization;
-Pipe and Drape/Hanging Drape customization;
-Enhanced tables/chairs;
-Provision of any excluded items (linens or place settings) or the contracting with the bar caterer, DJ, photobooth, officant, etc, vendors on behalf of the couple for simplification
-Concierge services;
-Additional security personnel;. and/or
-Valet services.
