Co-Working

“Co-Working” is a term used to describe a variety of flexible shared office arrangements. The specifics are as different as the number of facilities out there. Often the terms “incubator” or “business center” is used to describe many of the things that occur in connection with co-working facilities.

Whether you are a freelancer, independent contractor, entrepreneur or remote worker using a co-working facility can help you with productivity and may provide a variety of other benefits. Our aim is to provide an environment where may can pursue their roles seated in the Facility just as effectively as if they were sitting in an office environment in Wichita, Topeka, Kansas City, Overland Park, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco or Washington DC. At the end of the day, having a high paying job developed locally or relocated to the community is a benefit to all.

As a general matter, using a co-working facility may allow for:

  • increased productivity;
  • elimination of distractions associated with work from home;
  • using a commercial facility at a fraction of the cost associated with leasing office
    space directly;
  • access to a premier workspace unlike what would be available for lease;
  • participation in an environment where others are also working on achieving
    business objectives;
  • direct impact in community economic development; and
  • enhanced networking opportunities;
  • enhance domestic tranquility by not pitting you and your spouse, significant
    other or roommate against one another while trying to get work done;
  • and more.

Unlike a leased office, participants in Co-Working will have a “license” to use the front party of the Facility as “Co-Working Member” under our “Co-Working Use and License
Agreement”. Sumner Center will typically be available to Co-Work Members for use Mondays through Fridays, 8am to 5:30pm.

Initially Co-working Memberships will be available on a thirty (30) day billing cycle. In the future, day, week and or guest passes may be introduced. Use of Sumner Center by Co-Working Members will initially be solely on a “Hot Desk” or “As Available” basis with use of shared WiFi that is connected to high-speed internet. This means that use of any particular desk is not reserved to a specific Co-Working Member.

In keeping with the objective of creating a mutually beneficial work environment all Co-Work Members are expected to be familiar with and abide by the Co-Working Use and License Agreement along with the General Facility Rules. Future additions to our Co-Working program may include business presence (business mailing address/signage), call added privacy areas, reserved desks, private conference space, audio-visual tools, graphics and print services, and pod-cast production facilities. As additional resources and amenities are added we expect that these will be associated with specific levels of Co-Working Membership.
